Bassin Rules

  • Entry registration is 5.00pm onwards Friday afternoon.
  • YOU CAN NOMINATE EARLY BY POST!!!
  • Briefings are at 7.00p.m. (Sharp) both Friday and Saturday nights, you will need to be present to receive your boat starting order.
  • On the Friday night briefing, Boats will be allocated a starting position for day one that is determined by nomination entries and will be available for veiwing at end of briefing; Starting times for sessions will be announced and will be posted at the Registration site.
  • Procedures prior to start of each session will be as follows:
    • Live wells checked
    • PFDs checked (must be worn at all times while boat is on planning speed) NO EXCEPTIONS
    • Safety lanyard checked before being released to fish.
    • BASSIN QLD SERIES RESERVES THE RIGHT NOT TO START UNSAFE BOATS.
  • No pre-fishing for 5 days leading up to any BASSIN QLD SERIES event. (Total fishing ban at venue location)
  • All competitors must comply with all QFS and Qld Transport regulation and hold a current SIP fishing permit.
  • All fish must be brought back to the weigh-in site alive.
  • Fish must be kept in a live well and released alive at the weigh-in station after weighing and scoring. Fish that do not swim away will not qualify for scoring points. All live wells will be inspected prior to the start of each session.
  • All live wells must be aerated and/or have a recirculatory system fitted and capable of holding a minimum of 2 Bass per Angler. EACH ANGLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN FISHES WELL-BEING!!!
  • Lures and Fly’s only, Casting, Trolling and Fly Fishing are the only forms of fishing permittable
  • NO BAIT dead or alive.
  • Maximum of two bass per angler each session. Fish may be upgraded during each session and the two biggest Bass for each angler brought back to the weigh-in for scoring.
  • Only Bass (300mm from the nose to the fork of the tail) will be weighed.
  • Time penalties of 50grams per minute per angler will apply to all anglers with late return tagboard key or loss of key. There will be no exceptions to this regardless of circumstance whether you have fish or NO fish.
  • Competitors can come in anytime to put their TAG back on TAGBOARD. Once you have weighed-in ( your ) two fish you can go back on the water, but you must wear a “Bagged-Out Angler” vest so all anglers know you are unable to catch any more fish in that session. Any competitor found to be fishing and/or assisting another angler while wearing this vest will be disqualified from that round.
  • One rod per angler in use at any time.
  • All juniors and Sub-Juniors must cast and retrieve there own lures and flies and retrieve there own fish. Any angler found to be assisting in these ways will result in both anglers being disqualified. Netting of fish (Landing Net) is allowed by other anglers in boat. All juniors must be under 16 years of age prior to the start of each series, and sub-juniors must be under 12 years of age prior to the start of each series.
  • The winners of each round will be SENIOR / JUNIOR / SUB-JUNIOR with the heaviest overall weight
  • Prizes will be awarded in each division and can be changed pending nomination entries.
  • Presentation will always be at approximately 12.30 pm Sunday.
  • In the event of a draw in the overall placing, there will be a count-back on who has the highest average placing in the previous rounds. If a draw occurs in a round the angler who has caught the biggest individual fish will take the prize and the other person will move down to the next position.
  • In the event of a dispute or a session cancellation, the organizers (BASSIN QLD) will have the final decision and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • In fog and unsafe conditions Bassin QLD Series management reserves the right not to start a session under any circumstaces untill it is deamed safe to do so. Safety is the most important factor as this is a FAMILY based event.
  • Any photo's taken during the competition or at the presentation may be used for publication or on the website.
